This extends a theorem of Park on sums of two nonzero squares, which established the $k=2$ case. For $k=3$ and $k=4$, we prove that every such $f$ with $f(2)\\neq 0$ is the identity function on $\\mathbb{N}$. For $k \\ge 5$, we show that such a function $f$ must be either the identity function on $\\mathbb{N}$, or $f(n) = 0$ for all $n > 2k + 21$.","category":"research","comments":0,"disputed":false,"division":"math","mentions":0,"discussed":0,"published":"2026-06-28","reactions":{}}
