Peller"],"reviews":0,"subject":"math.FA","summary":"In this paper we study functions of pairs of unitary operators and pairs of contractions with commutators in the Schatten-von Neumann class $\\boldsymbol{S}_p$. We obtain commutator estimates and prove that our functional calculus is multiplicative modulo $\\boldsymbol{S}_p$. On the other hand, we show that our commutator estimates do not extend to the case $p>2$. We also obtain an extension of the Carey--Pincus trace formula.
