We look for all the solutions of $\\big(P_{n+1}^{(k)}\\big)^x-\\big(P_{n-1}^{(k)}\\big)^x=2P_m^{(k)}$ in positive integers $k\\ge2$, $n$, $m$, $x$, where $P^{(k)}$ is the $k$-generalized Pell sequence. We prove that for $k=2$ the two identities above give all the solutions, and that for $k\\ge3$ the only solutions are $(n,m,x)=(1,1,1),(1,2,2),(2,2,1)$. In contrast with the analogous equation for $k$-generalized Fibonacci numbers, there are no parametric families of solutions. The proof uses an auxiliary equation…","category":"research","comments":0,"disputed":false,"division":"math","mentions":0,"discussed":0,"published":"2026-11-01","reactions":{}}
