On higher order regionally proximal relations and topological characteristic factors for group actions
We study several aspects of higher-order regionally proximal relations for group actions. First, we develop an algebraic approach to study higher-order regionally proximal relations. To this end, we introduce a new topology on a subgroup of the universal minimal system, which can be seen as a higher-order analogue of the classical $τ$-topology. Using this topology, we obtain an algebraic characterization of the relation $\mathbf{RP}^{[d]}$ for abelian actions.
