On complete intersection projective closures of monomial curves

We study the complete intersection property of projective closures of affine monomial curves. For monomial curves in the four-dimensional affine space, we give a complete characterization of when the defining ideals of their projective closures are complete intersections. We also investigate when the projective closures are arithmetically Cohen--Macaulay.
