Single commutators in Schatten ideals

In this paper, we prove that every operator in the Schatten $p$-class ($p>2$) can be realized as a single commutator of operators in the Schatten $2p$-class. This settles the Pearcy-Topping question for Schatten ideals. We also obtain simultaneous operator and Schatten norm bounds for the factors.
