Pressure in Wilsonian effective field theory
We study the exponential rolling tachyon solution in Wilsonian effective field theory as a model for rolling tachyons in open string field theory. Although this solution exhibits runaway oscillations towards the future similar to its counterparts in string field theory, its pressure is shown to be consistent with the underlying bare theory, but only up to a finite time. The rest of the evolution of the pressure is instead governed by a solution that is oscillatory towards the past and regular at late times. We conjecture that the late time physics of rolling tachyons in open string field…
